How to find the best vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to pick the best vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. OCEANFRONT...Clean, Cozy, Comfy...Family Oriented, WELL MAINTAINED has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
