Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in Atlantic Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best vacation home in the New Bern area:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beautiful 5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths on sound and walking distance to beach and shops has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you simply love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
