Our top Atlantic Beach vacation rental tips:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the best rental in Atlantic Beach:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. The Exum Cottage - Beachfront in Atlantic Beach, NC has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
