Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a Atlantic Beach rental home:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Atlantic Beach. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book the right New Bern rental home:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Captain's Choice: 5 BR, 5.5 BA House in Atlantic Beach, Sleeps 12 has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If not, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
