Booking the best vacation home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in New Bern:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Hip Newly Renovated Historic Riverside Home in New Bern, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If there's a specific New Bern beach you crave, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
