Finding the best vacation home experience:

When to visit New Bern & When to reserve a rental home:

  • To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking the perfectrental:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Townhome with 2 bedrooms plus loft sleeping area, perfect for your next vacation has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
