Tips and Tricks to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the rightrental:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Olde Towne Yacht Club 312, Soundfront Condo in Beaufort, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
