Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Conveniently Located 3 Bedroom 2 Bathroom has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
