How to find the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Sunny, welcoming home, close to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
