Tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To book the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and choosing a perfectvacation home:

  • Choose your dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sea Fever East, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If not, call the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain New Bern beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
