Tips for getting the best rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Pine Knoll Shores. Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Finding the perfect vacation home in Pine Knoll Shores:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. MULTI-LEVEL, OCEANFRONT - ENJOY BEACON'S REACH AMENITIES has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Advice for a great stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
