Strategies for getting the best New Bern rental experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Pine Knoll Shores. Booking in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect New Bern vacation home:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. MULTI-LEVEL, OCEANFRONT - ENJOY BEACON'S REACH AMENITIES has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. text the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
