Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Get the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Indian Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and choosing your prefect New Bern rental home:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Seascape - The Perfect Oceanfront Getaway! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Know before you go:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
