Tricks and tips to get the best New Bern rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your New Bern rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking your New Bern rental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Seaside Escape in Pebble Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
