How to find the best New Bern vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer time is high season in New Bern. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental in the New Bern area:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Downtown Blue Manor 2 has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
