Tips and Tricks to get the best New Bern vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, try changing your family's New Bern vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Choosing and booking the perfect New Bern rental:

  • To start, have your family choose date ranges and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. KC Blue, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is right for your family.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
