How to find the best New Bern rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectvacation home:

  • To start, have your family commit to a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Emerald Isle OCEANFRONT 4 BR 1\/2 Duplex - watch dolphins from the deck! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
