Getting the best New Bern rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Emerald Isle OCEANFRONT 4 BR 1\/2 Duplex - watch dolphins from the deck! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
