Getting the best rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting the best rental in the New Bern area:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Emerald Isle OCEANFRONT 4 BR 1/2 Duplex - watch dolphins from the deck! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
