Our top Vacation rental home tips:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the best rental home in the New Bern area:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Flamingo Point - Relax as if you were in your own Home has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Have a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
