Tricks and tips for getting the best New Bern vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Atlantic Beach rental home:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the bestvacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. One More Drift- Sound Front Home in Atlantic Beach, NC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific New Bern destination you love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
