Our top Emerald Isle rental property booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefectvacation home:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 4BR Ocean Front Duplex - off Coast Guard Rd! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If not, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
