Strategies to get the very best New Bern vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the best New Bern rental home:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Beachfront - Perfect for large groups - Pool! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
