Tips to get the very best rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4BR, Pet Friendly, Ocean Front - Unique Style has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's an individual New Bern destination you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
