Carolina Home and Garden

Carolina Home & Garden was established in 1996. Over the years, we have grown into much more than your local Garden Shop. We have thrived on being a unique and beautiful boutique garden center for almost 25 years. Owner's Brian & Stephanie Watson started this business in their mid twenties. It was not until their daughter Logan began her journey here, that Carolina Home & Garden became more than your plant buying place.

In 2015 Logan started her shop, Logan's Boutique. Her boutique is located inside where their retail Garden Center used to be. At one point in their new journey, half of the store was clothing and gifts, and the other side were plants, fertilizers, seeds, rakes, animal feed and more. Logan's Boutique slowly began to take over. Brian decided to move the garden center to the middle of the property to allow Logan's shop to grow. In the past few years, the Garden Center has been reconfigured to be towards the back part of our property. This has made shopping for plants and all of your gardens needs, much more convenient. We now have a checkout located near the Garden Center too!

Inside the boutique, you can find so many unique items from local artists and small businesses. In the front part of our store, we have a vintage bar room that also has a variety of old fashion arcade games. Brian loves collecting them! When he was a young boy, his father Larry Watson, owned an arcade on Emerald Isle. This has become the hangout spot where parents can enjoy a beverage, while their children enjoy playing games. Right outside is our koi fish flagstone patio. We love watching the kids feed the koi fish and hangout outside. We also have two alpacas, and our large piggy, Moe. We strive to be your local gathering place, for all types of occasions.

In 2019 Brian & Stephanie's oldest son Jordan, opened his food truck, the Garden of Eatin'. We offer a beautiful and delicious array of food for lunch Thursday-Sundays from, 11:30-4:00. Also join us for dinner on Friday nights in the Gardens from, 6:30-9:30. We love having food available for our customers to enjoy and pair with our array of cocktails, beer & wine, coffee from our espresso machine, old fashion sodas, and more!

We have also started offering smoked BBQ Brisket, ribs, chicken, and more. This is prepared by Chef Will Eason. He offers this special meal on Friday Evenings at 6:00! He prepares as much as 2 smokers can hold, and runs out FAST. Food has been such a fun addition to our business and we can not wait to see what our future holds down this fun road!

We really take pride in our latest Event Venue at Carolina Home & Garden. Brian and Stephanie created Dream Makers Wedding Estates in the early 2000's. They created two beautiful Wedding Venues on the Crystal Coast, The Watson House and Gardens in Emerald Isle, NC. and the Palo Alto Venue in Mayesville, NC.

It was not until 2018 that they began to transform Carolina Home & Garden into their third venue. Having access to so many beautiful plants and décor from the garden center, has really made it special to host an Event at CHG. All throughout, our 5 acre property is truly beautified. We have planters everywhere! Water features, statuary, lighting, vintage décor, unique furniture sets and seating all around to enjoy.

In 2019, we finished building our new climate controlled Tropical Event space. We are calling it, "The Sun Room" at Carolina Home & Garden. Inside is decorated with white washed ship lap, chandeliers, and exquisite plants all throughout the space. The rough shiplap on the walls in the Sunroom actually came from very old pine trees that hurricane Florence knocked over on the Watsons property. We took something that had been destroyed by a hurricane, and made it better1

The Sunroom is a space that can take on any style and design. You can dress it up with floral and décor, or keep it simple and elegant with the natural green plants, and white shiplap. This room being big enough for around 250 people, we are ready to take on any event, big or small. Enjoy our botanical gardens, koi fish patio seating, and everything in between.

We have worked years and years into making this property something quite exquisite. Come see for yourselves. Wednesday, Thursday & Friday evenings we are open to the public for a fun night in the gardens. Live music, dancing, food, drinks, shopping, and so much more! Enjoy beer, wine, and cocktails, any day on our patio, or inside all of our fun hangout spaces.

For more family fun, we have Climbing Ropes courses, Netted Trampoline, Petting Zoo, Slides, Wall Climbing, Ice Cream! We also have vintage arcade games, a pool table, a foosball table, a large screen TV, a large selection of board games, a koi pond and so much more! Ask about Birthday parties and FREE Fridays!

SPECIAL PROFILE

This Garden Oasis is a Family Affair

Hi I’m Brian Watson. I was born in Emerald Isle in 1969. I was one of the first kids to live on Emerald Island, which was a great place to grow up. Throughout my younger years, there were always a lot of activities for families to do. Lighthouse golf, holiday travel park arcade basketball, jungle land and more.

There were great night clubs too. We will always have the natural beauty of EI, second to none. But I think things to do at the end of a beach day is where Carolina Home and Garden has filled a big need.

Being in business since 1989 has been full of excitement mixed with a few identity crisis moments. I love the lane we are in now with my two sons, my daughter and my wife all working and growing together, literally.

If you are visiting or live here full time, Carolina Home and Garden is a must stop. Make sure you have lots of time to stroll around.

In the morning we have a fresh juice bar, locally made muffins and super fresh and delicious coffee we source with our friends at Milk Road.

Come enjoy Jordan's famous chicken wrap for lunch and visit the 1000 lb. pig or buy an organic herb from our fully stocked garden center.

Check us out on Thursday night and listen to our friends make great music while you eat Chef Will's street tacos. Finish with a fresh squeezed cocktail, mocktail, beer or wine.

Every day is a little different at the gardens. Please come and relax with us.

New Bern Firemans Museum

The New Bern Fire Department began as a fraternal organization and was originally called the "Atlantic Hook & Ladder Company," and was the first chartered fire department in the state of North Carolina. This original company became inactive during the Civil War when many of its volunteers were fighting for the Confederate Army, and noting a need for local firefighters, invading Union forces who had infiltrated and then settled in New Bern during the latter portion of the war, set up a rival company in 1865, the "New Bern Steam Fire Engine Company No. 1." The two companies remained in service well after the Civil War ended, but the initial rivalry between north and south originating companies never dissipated. Both companies would try to "out-do" each other with station equipment upgrades, and both companies regularly competed against each other in state-wide firefighting competitions. (Incidentally, both performed exceedingly well, perhaps due in no small part in an effort to out-do the other rival.)

Crystal Coast Tourism Authority

The Crystal Coast Tourism Authority has been instrumental in introducing newcomers to this picturesque stretch of barrier island beaches and barely-inland maritime communities, and serves as an essential tool for visitors to discover this remote but accommodating coastal region.
