Tricks and tips for getting the best Emerald Isle rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Tides Out West, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
