How to book the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:
- Reserve your New Bern rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose a perfectrental:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Lorelei East, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
