Vacation rental tips:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the best vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Rest Ashore, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
