How to book the best rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book a perfectrental home:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Seabbatical with Water Views, Close to Downtown has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
