Tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Home - Newly Renovated - Beach House - Emerald Isle Point Great for Familes has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's an individual New Bern destination you are enamored with, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More considerations:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Call the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
