Tricks and tips for getting the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Booking your New Bern vacation home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the best rental home:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. OCEANFRONT HALF DUPLEX SLEEPS 9 w 4 BDRMS, 3 ARE OCEANVIEW! BEST PART OF E ISLE! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, call the host before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
