Getting the best New Bern vacation property experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your New Bern rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Panoramic oceanfront views of golden sand and crashing waves has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
