Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. \nTranquil 4th Row Ocean View w Pool & Hot Tub ... Book Your Dream Oasis Now! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
During your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
