Our top Emerald Isle rental home booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the New Bern area:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 4BR Ocean Front Duplex - off Coast Guard Rd! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a specific New Bern beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
