Emerald Isle vacation rental booking tips:
When to book a New Bern rental & When to go:
- To get the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Elevated Second Row 4 Bedroom Home - Great Ocean Views - Steps to Beach has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
