Strategies for getting the best New Bern vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose your prefect New Bern rental:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Beautiful 7BR Oceanfront home with stunning views and private beach access! has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you are crazy about, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
