Tips to get the best New Bern rental home experience:
When to book a New Bern rental & When to go:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To find the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your family commit to dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Beautiful 7BR Oceanfront home with stunning views and private beach access! has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
