Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Beaufort. To find the best value, try changing your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best rental in the New Bern area:

  • Start by having your group select the best dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Family affordable & close enough to all the fun stuff! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Call the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
