Tips to get the very best rental home experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick yourvacation home:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Point Emerald B-103, Almost Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
