Tips to get the very best New Bern vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. BEAUTIFUL OCEANFRONT with gorgeous views! 2 king beds, 3 queen beds and 4 twins. has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
