Strategies to get the very best vacation home experience:
When to book a New Bern rental & When to go:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Booking in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Selecting the best vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Rx Pad, Soundfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
