How to find the best New Bern vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Booking in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose the best vacation home in Emerald Isle:

  • First, have your family select dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Beautiful NEW Construction - Ocean Front and Fabulous! has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
