Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Book your New Bern rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best rental in Emerald Isle:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Tip'Sea Turtle, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
  • If there's a particular New Bern beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
