Tricks and tips for getting the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the perfect New Bern rental home:
- First, have your group agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Great quiet location, 2nd row, ocean views, heated pool & volleyball! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
