Finding the best Emerald Isle rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking your New Bern vacation home:

  • Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Patty's Beach House, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you long to visit, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
