Beaufort is a striking little historic NC town founded in 1709 which makes it the 3rd oldest in the state. Originally a Port of Entry and fishing village, Beaufort has a rich maritime history. The historic waterfront district along Taylor’s Creek offers visitors the opportunity to dine and shop while appreciating vistas of feral horses on Carrot Island and boats from all over the world at the Beaufort Docks. Water ferries transport visitors to close by Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks. There are historic and ghost tours available daily that provide a rich history of the area, and one of Blackbeard’s legendary homes is just around the corner from our vacation home! Tour the North Carolina Maritime Museum, the Beaufort Historic Site, and walk or bicycle the tree lined streets of the historic neighborhoods. There are exceptional eateries by the waterfront to appreciate including annual events like the Food and Wine Weekend with winemakers and top chefs from around the world and the music festival. Whatever you decide to do, I am sure that you will find Beaufort as delightfully different as we do – and it's only 3 hours from Raleigh!
The home sleeps 12 and was constructed only a few years ago so has the amenities of a new home. We include bicycles, a canoe, and other extras with the rental.

Our top Beaufort rental property booking tips:
Getting the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the perfect rental home in the New Bern area:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Unique, Great for Families, Walk to Beaufort Waterfront has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
