How to get the best New Bern vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- First, have your family commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Take Me A Wave - Pier Pointe 7A2, Emerald Isle, Oceanview, poolside second floor has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
