How to book the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront stunner in Emerald Isle has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
