Vacation rental booking tips:

When to reserve a New Bern rental & When to go:

  • To find the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking yourvacation home:

  • Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. UPDATED Sea-renity EAST near boat ramp has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a specific New Bern destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
