Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect New Bern vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the best rental in Emerald Isle:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. One Four Our Three - Oceanfront, 3BR, 1.5BA - Emerald Isle! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
