Strategies to get the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. To get the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing and booking your New Bern rental home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Historic Corner Cottage - newly renovated kitchen, bathroom & bedroom floors has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. text the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
