Tips and Tricks to get the best New Bern vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a New Bern rental & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Historic Corner Cottage - newly renovated kitchen, bathroom & bedroom floors has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a specific New Bern destination you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
