Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose your prefectvacation home:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Historic Corner Cottage - Beaufort; newly renovated kitchen and bathroom has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
