The town of Beaufort-by-the-Sea has been a favorite for centuries. From long-ago sailors who dropped anchor in Beaufort Inlet after a wearying voyage, to tourists from near and far who long to experience the modest-town vibe of this southern town, to Blackbeard himself, who famously hung out in these parts after pillaging and treasure seeking on the open sea.

This cozy home on Gordon Street, Trails End, is in keeping with the overall appeal of historic Beaufort, with 3 bedrooms, and 1.5 baths; this home has plenty of room to sleep the whole family! Unwind on the porch while sipping your coffee and soaking up the gorgeous surroundings.

Stroll along Taylor’s Creek, and watch for ferry boats, dolphins, and wild horses across the waterway, visit downtown's stores and art galleries, and appreciate the many delicious eateries, bars and cafes. Life couldn’t be more impressive when you happen to be in Beaufort!

Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Quaint Cottage in Beaufort, NC (Trails End) has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
