Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your New Bern rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking yourrental home:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Calm Tide -On Ann Street, walking distance to Beaufort waterfront. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If not, call the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's an individual New Bern beach you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
