Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To book the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best rental in the New Bern area:
- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. The Pinnacle - OCEANFRONT Full Home with Pool/Hot Tub, 2 Kitchens, large deck has 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
